  • GM pledges hybrid cars that come with a plug

    LOS ANGELES -- General Motors Corp. became the first automaker Wednesday to commit to building a gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle that can be recharged from an electric socket, a move that will lessen dependence on oil and help GM overtake Toyota Motor Co. in environmental leadership.     The Scuderi Group just completed a week-long visit to Munich, Germany, where it attended the MTZ-Konferenze Motor, where automotive R&D engineers from around Europe descended to discuss powertrain development, new hybrid technologies, and Europe's tough emissions standards. Scuderi engineering and licensing representatives participated in the event, meeting with a number of European contacts from the automotive OEM, supplier, or academic sectors.     The first appearance of the Scuderi Group in the French market was an unqualified success. Scuderi presented its breakthrough technology to major OEMs including Renault, Peugeot, Citroen and BMW France at the Normandy Motor Meetings in Rouen, France on Oct. 4 & 5.
